Continuous Disc Dryer

Overview

The continuous disc dryer is a high-efficiency conductive drying machine. It is widely used in chemical, pharmaceutical, pesticide, food, feed and agricultural processing, and is available in atmospheric, closed and vacuum types across several sizes and materials of construction.

Working Principle

Wet material is fed continuously onto the top drying disc, where rotating rake arms turn it along a spiral path. The material is moved between alternating large and small discs, flowing steadily down through the dryer. The hollow discs carry a heating medium — saturated steam, hot water or thermal oil — entering one end and leaving the other. Moisture is exhausted from the top cover (or through a vacuum port on vacuum models), and the dried product discharges at the base. Optional condensers, dust collectors and recycling devices enable solvent recovery and higher capacity.
