Overview
The rake vacuum dryer is a horizontal cylindrical dryer fitted with a rotating raking (stirring) shaft. Heated through a jacket and operated under vacuum, it dries pastes, slurries and powders gently at low temperature, making it well suited to heat-sensitive, easily oxidised materials and to products whose solvents must be recovered.

Working Principle
The cylindrical shell is heated through its jacket by steam, hot water or thermal oil while the chamber is held under vacuum. The rotating rake blades continuously turn and scrape the material, renewing the heat-transfer surface and preventing build-up on the wall. Under vacuum, moisture and solvents evaporate at low temperature and are drawn off by the vacuum system, optionally via a condenser.
