Boric acid (HβBOβ) is used in glass and fibreglass, ceramics and glazes, flame retardants, pharmaceuticals and fertilisers. It is heat-sensitive: held too long at temperature it dehydrates to metaboric acid and then boron oxide. So drying must be fast and at controlled, moderate temperature. A spin flash dryer removes moisture in seconds, before dehydration can occur.
