Calcium carbonate is one of the most common materials run on a spin flash dryer. As a filler for plastics, rubber, paper and coatings it has to come out dry, fine and free-flowing — without being exposed to the high temperatures that would start to decompose it. A spin flash dryer does exactly that, drying the wet cake in seconds and giving precise control of final moisture and particle size.
The drying challenge

- Dries to ≤0.1% moisture. By adjusting the classifier ring to control particle size and residence, calcium carbonate can be dried to a final moisture as low as about 0.1%.
- Fine particle control. The top classifier delivers a controlled particle-size distribution up to roughly 325 mesh.
- Gentle, fast drying. Residence time of only seconds removes moisture without the prolonged heat that would decompose the carbonate or harm its activity.
