Copper sulfate is used in agriculture (as a fungicide and in Bordeaux mixture), electroplating, pigments, feed additives and mining. Beyond simple drying, controlled flash drying can drive off crystal water — converting copper sulfate pentahydrate (CuSO₄·5H₂O) toward a lower hydrate or anhydrous product. Because the material is acidic and corrosive, the contact parts must resist attack.
